Recently, CD Projekt Red announced that The Witcher will remake with a remake. Following this announcement, the expected news from the company came as fans debated whether the remake would stay true to its essence. Here are the details…

The Witcher Remake will have an open world!

CD Projekt Red announced in the company’s earnings report that The Witcher Remake, which will be developed with Unreal Engine 5, will be a “story-driven, open-world role-playing game.” The original game, on the other hand, had a linear structure where we progressed region by region. Accordingly, The Witcher Remake will deviate a little from its essence.

Adam Badowski, studio head of CD Projekt Red, said it was too early for more details on the remake.

“The Witcher is where it all started for CD Projekt Red. It was the first game we did and it was a big moment for us at the time. Returning to this game and re-developing it for the next generation feels just as big as it was back then.”

The Witcher, which made its debut in 2007, is about the events of our hero Geralt in Vizima, the capital of the Temeria Kingdom. The game, which progresses linearly in its original form, will also include open world elements with its remake. Accordingly, we can assume that Temeria, where the game takes place, will expand.

In addition, CD Projekt Red will co-produce The Witcher Remake with Polish game developer Fool’s Theory. The company, which is experienced in role-playing games, will undertake the general production, while CD Projekt Red will be in control. The release date and other details of the remake are yet to be announced.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the most popular game in the series, will receive a free next-generation update on December 14. This update includes ray-tracing technology and lots of new content. There are also improvements in performance.
