Apple 5G modem coming?
Solving the processor design, which is an important factor in external dependency, as an example to the industry, Apple has now tackled another important element, the cellular modem. The modem division purchased from Intel has come to an end.
According to reports, the Apple 5G modem chip, codenamed Ibiza, will begin risk production towards the end of the year. If the desired efficiency is achieved at the end of this production, which is a kind of test, volume production will begin in the first half of next year.
For now, Apple is not in a rush and has a long-term partnership with Qualcomm. Sources expect at least one iPhone or 5G iPad to use the company’s new modem next year to avoid risks. Apple’s widespread use of the 5G modem will not be before 2025.
