Handheld consoles, which fell into silence after PSP, said hello to us again with the release of Nintendo Switch in 2017. Finally, with the introduction of Valve’s Steam Deck console last year, a new era has begun for users who love to play games regardless of location.

Valve is working hard to develop the Steam Deck console, which is gaining popularity day by day. The company, which previously brought Microsoft’s cloud gaming service Xbox Cloud Gaming, has now announced that the feature that a segment has been eagerly waiting for is available on the console. Here are the details…

Steam Deck for Windows 11 support

Steam Deck is slightly different from the classic handheld consoles in terms of its technical features and what it offers to users. Because the device, which comes with an X86-based AMD processor and runs a Linux-based operating system called SteamOS, is a game-oriented portable computer rather than a handheld console.

Continuing its efforts to further improve the console in this context, Valve launched Windows 10 support last month. This allowed users to install Windows 10 on the console. On the other hand, it was announced that Windows 11 will also come, but it will be delayed a little because the fTPM software for the AMD processor powered by the console is not yet ready.

As promised, Valve brought fTPM software support to the console by removing the major obstacle to installing Windows 11 with the latest beta update it recently released. This paved the way for the Steam Deck to be installed on Windows 11.

Apart from this, as in Windows 10, sound drivers are not yet active in Windows 11, either. Therefore, users are expected to meet their needs with a USB-C or Bluetooth compatible audio device until the sound drivers are available. In addition, with the update, the battery life of the console has been improved and a new setting has been introduced for some games that do not have framerate limitations.

So what do you think about this issue? Do you think Steam Deck can achieve success in the mobile game console space? Do not forget to share your views with us in the comments section or on the SDN Forum.
