According to a new report, Sony is ready to announce Project Spartacus, long-controversial Xbox Game Pass rival for PlayStation. Project Spartacus, which is claimed to be announced by Sony next week, is expected to combine PS Plus and PS Now.
According to Bloomberg, Sony has completed its new PS Plus service inspired by Xbox Game Pass. The subscription service, which was first leaked last year, will be presented with the most striking games of recent years in the announcement to be made next week. Here’s all we know about Xbox Game Pass rival Project Spartacus.
What is a Game Pass rival PlayStation subscription?
According to Bloomberg, Sony is preparing to launch its new subscription service for PlayStation in just one week. According to the report, the service will combine existing PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus services and offer an Xbox Game Pass-style library of games at various subscription tiers.
The new service, which combines PS Plus and PS Now, will have a variety of subscriptions to choose from. Internal documents released last month revealed that there will be three options: Basic ($10 per month), Extra ($13 per month), and Premium ($16 per month).
Confirming previous leaks, Bloomberg said that the most expensive tier, Premium, will allow extended demos and cloud gaming (similar to Xbox Cloud Gaming). In other words, if the Premium subscription is like PS Now, Windows players will have the opportunity to play console-specific productions directly on the computer.
However, the report claimed that games like God of War Ragnarok offered by Sony will not be granted access via subscription from day one. Earlier, Sony had stated that giving such benefits via subscription is unsustainable. But it will be interesting to see how it positions Project Spartacus and closes its significant gap against its closest rival.
