Sony’s DualSense game controller, introduced with PlayStation 5, provides a pleasant and realistic gaming experience to both console and computer users with its adaptive triggers and haptic feedback support.

You can connect it directly to a Windows and macOS computer via USB-C port or Bluetooth. After connecting, you can take full advantage of all the features of the controller, provided that the game also supports it. However, DualSense does not satisfy computer users in terms of update support.

DualSense can be updated without PS5 on the computer

The biggest reason for this dissatisfaction: software updates cannot be made directly on the computer. You can only install an update released by Sony for DualSense with PlayStation 5. This is a problem for users who just bought the controller and don’t have a PS5.

Sony has not officially announced that it will enable DualSense to be updated on Windows and Mac. However, a user license agreement on the company’s website, which was subsequently deleted, mentions the development of an Updater application for DualSense, and the good news is that this application will be used on PC.

Thanks to the app, the controller can be updated directly on the computer and no PS5 is needed. In other words, Sony will make DualSense completely independent for PC users. This also means that the company will further expand DualSense’s compatibility with Windows and Mac devices in the future.

Of course, the only thing players want is not to update DualSense on the computer. A limited number of PC game controllers are currently supported, and the number is expected to increase. In the meantime, you can go to Settings > Accessories > Controllers to check if DualSense is up to date.

Do you guys use DualSense on a computer? You can share your experiences in the comments or on the SDN Forum.
