The new iOS 17 version, which will power iPhones, may come with some remarkable upgrades. According to recent reports, iOS 17 will make widgets on the home screen much more useful. Leaks indicate that Apple is looking to expand widget support and make it interactive.
Support for interactive widgets is coming with iOS 17
The most striking innovation of iOS 14, announced in 2020, was that it added widget support to the home screen. Although it has been on the Android side for years, Apple devices did not have a widget feature. However, after three years, it was decided to expand this support.
As you know, widgets in iOS 14 and later versions only allow you to see information. In other words, it is not possible to use the widget on the home screen interactively. That’s why it has been interpreted as “another version of application icons” for many years.
If users clicked on the widget, the application would open. Apple will finally fix this problem with iOS 17. Allegedly, the company is testing the interactive widget feature that will allow quick calculations and interaction with browsable information.
Although iOS widget support is in its early stages compared to Android, this is good news for Apple users. In particular, it can make interactive widgets such as music, podcasts and search more useful.
