James Gunn has big plans for DC’s future
With the merger of Warner Bros and Discovery, the firm went through serious changes in DC management. The CEO of the new company, David Zaslav, is determined to increase the investments of the company in projects under DC and has already started to make important decisions at this point. In this direction, Zaslav has decided to combine the projects under the roof of DC Studios in the past weeks, and put James Gunn and Peter Safran at the head of this studio.
Gunn, a comic book fan favorite with the Guardians of the Galaxy series, The Suicide Squad movie and The Peacemaker series, will now head DC Studios and be responsible for the studio’s creative development. While DC Studios’ future plans haven’t been officially announced, Gunn has provided some striking answers on Twitter to some fans’ questions about the DCU.
Movies, TV shows, games and animations will be linked
A few days after this announcement, Gunn answered another follower’s question and stated that DC games will also be linked to movies. If this plan of the company comes true, DC will have made a move that Marvel has been afraid of for a long time. Prepared under James Gunn and Peter Safran, the future of the new DC will be made public in the coming months. Let’s see if the fans will be satisfied with the new DC that Gunn will create.
Some active projects are not connected to the new DC universe
After the election of new directors of DC Studios, some statements were made about some of the projects that were actively developed. Except for the comics, all projects developed under the DC brand will be tied to Gunn and Safran, but Joker: Folie a Deux and The Batman’s sequel will not be tied to the shared DC universe. It is also considered that games such as The Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Gotham Knights will not be connected to the new universe.
