A new one has been added to Google’s applications that use the latest version of Material Design on the iOS platform. Gmail for iPhone and iPad has been updated with the design called Material 3. Here are the prominent changes in the renewed Gmail application:

On the home page, the search bar is in the form of pills instead of a rounded rectangle. Google chat and/or meet screen is also available. It is noteworthy that blue color is highlighted and red is not used much. Depending on the light or dark theme, we see it in different tones.

The E-Mail button turns into a round rectangle with a very vivid blue tone when dark mode is activated. When you open an e-mail, you will notice that the overflow icon in the upper right corner is switched to horizontal points from three vertical points to the circle.

Google Chat for iOS has recently been updated with Material You. Other Workspace applications such as Drive, Documents, E-Tablo, Slides and Meet have not yet been updated. Other first party applications updated with Material Design 3 include Google (search) application, maps (lower bar), photos, translation and Gemini.

The Gmail iOS application, which is updated with Material Design 3, carries 6.0.250119 version.
