Many automakers around the world are turning to electric vehicles, which are crucial to building a more sustainable future. Brands are announcing that they will give up traditional cars and produce only electric cars in the next 10-15 years. However, the fact that such vehicles are still ‘new’ shows that many people do not have enough knowledge about electric cars.
Now, a move has come from the US-based automobile giant General Motors (GM) on this issue. The company, which has recently partnered to establish hundreds of electric vehicle charging stations in the US, has made a move to educate people in the country about electric vehicles.
Platform established to inform customers about electric cars
GM, which started the delivery of its new electric pickup truck in the past months, has taken a step towards directing consumers to electric vehicles. The giant company has launched an online program where its customers can have a one-on-one meeting with an electric car expert and get information about these vehicles. This initiative was described as part of the company’s transition to electric cars, with new models such as the Hummer EV and Silverado EV.
Many detailed information such as charging stations in the USA and Canada can be accessed on GM’s platform called EV Live, where only Americans can participate. In addition, many services are offered, such as information on how to charge cars at home and work, and concerns about charging.
Hoss Hassani, an official at the company, said: “Tackling the known misconceptions about electric vehicles will accelerate their adoption. We needed this to inform consumers and encourage them to adopt these tools. With EV Live, we make it easy to learn about the electric car experience. The experts at EV Live are on hand for the curious and the skeptical.”
With this move, it plans to increase the adoption of electric cars and to stand out in the market. In addition, the giant company aims to electrify all its vehicles by 2035, and to offer 30 different electric cars worldwide by 2025.
