Google is trying to make it easier for minors to remove their own images from search results. “We know that children and teenagers face some unique challenges, especially when they unexpectedly find photos of themselves online,” the company said in a blog post yesterday.
In short, minors or their guardians will be able to fill out a form with image URLs, search result queries and URLs of search result pages. Google also states that removing these photos from search results does not mean physically removing them from the internet.
Making this move at a time when tech companies are facing a growing wave of criticism about their impact on children could mean that a similar move could be made by other services.
