Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ space tourism company Blue Origin is on the verge of making a breakthrough, even though it wasn’t selected for NASA’s Artemis Moon mission. Accordingly, Blue Origin is pursuing an important first in space history. In this sense, the company made a date for the world’s first private space station.

Blue Origin takes action for the world’s first private space station

Blue Origin, one of the leading companies in space tourism, is taking a step that will raise the bar for space tourism. Accordingly, the company took action to establish its own space station in earth orbit. This space station, named Orbital Reef, will be implemented in partnership with Boeing, Sierra Space, Redwire Space, Genesis Engineering Solutions and Arizona State University.

The Blue Origin space station will be smaller than the International Space Station (ISS). In this sense, Orbital Reef has the capacity to accommodate a crew of 10. Thanks to this space station, Blue Origin intends to become an important accommodation point in space tourism.

This new space station will provide services for scientists, countries and companies that want to go into space. In this sense, Orbital Reef is a new holiday option for tourists who want to watch the world from space instead of taking a short tour in space and returning to Earth.

Blue Origin has announced that this new space station will be put into service between 2025 and 2030. The companies that will take part in the construction of the world’s first private space station and their duties are as follows:

Blue Origin: Grid systems, large-scale core modules, and the reused heavy-load carrier rocket New Glenn launch system.

Sierra Space: Large Integrated Flexible Environment (LIFE) module, node module, and Dream Chaser spaceplane landing on the runway for crew and cargo transport (capable of landing on runways worldwide)

Boeing: Science module, station operations, maintenance engineering and use of the Starliner crew spacecraft for the space station.

Redwire Space: Microgravity research, development and production; load operations and the establishment of deployable structures.

Genesis Engineering Solutions: Designing and preparing a single-man spacecraft for routine operations and sightseeing.

Arizona State University: will lead a global consortium of universities providing research advisory services and public assistance.
