Preparing to make huge investments in the processor sector, Intel wants to be the pioneer of the sector in the next few years. The company is preparing to enter the competitive smartphone world with a giant deal.

Intel and Arm will base production on Intel 18A’ process

Intel and Arm announced an important partnership today. In the first place, the partnership will start working on the optimization of Intel 18A to the mobile system. Later, steps will be taken in areas such as the Internet of Things (IoT), data center, aerospace, government applications, and automotive.

In a statement, Intel Corporation CEO Pat Gelsinger described the agreement as new options for companies that want to use next-generation process technology. Thus, Intel will be able to manufacture for Arm customers such as Qualcomm and MediaTek.

Under the deal, Intel will provide foundries for them to actually manufacture. Arm will create design technology co-optimization (DTCO) for Arm cores. Thus, Intel aims to take place in smartphones with ARM processors coming out of Intel 18A in the upcoming period. Additionally, the announcement was made as part of the IDM 2.0 strategy.

On the other hand, it is believed that the partnership will be an important step in eliminating the supply-demand imbalance in the trader world. As it is known, Samsung and TSMC are competing for leadership in this field. Orders created for these two may cause some disruptions in the mobile processor world.
