While the investigation into the January 6 US Capitol events continues, the statements of some Twitter employees were listened to. A Twitter employee claimed that former US President Donald Trump used the platform to “incite extremist groups”.
Twitter employee says Trump was guilty in January 6 events
A former company employee on Twitter’s content moderation policy team said that Donald Trump was wrong during the Capitol events. Claiming that he provoked his own supporters, the employee said that he made his protest regarding the 2020 Presidential results on Twitter.
The former President was first criticized in a tweet he posted in December 2019. “Be there (at the Capitol). This will be brutal,” Trump tweeted, accusing him of being responsible for the violence on January 6. It should be reminded that five people lost their lives and more than 700 people were arrested during the Capitol events.
It was noted that Donald Trump also incited far-right groups on Twitter. However, it was not ignored that Trump withdrew a group called the Proud Boys and emphasized that they “must stay on hold”.
The employee also said that the President’s account should have been suspended long ago because of his tweets. “If Trump was another user on Twitter, he would have been permanently suspended a long time ago,” he said. In the investigation into the January 6 US Capitol events, he used the following statements:
My concern was that for the first time in history, the former President spoke directly to extremist organizations and gave them directives. We had never seen such direct communication before and it worried me.
It is necessary to explain that the committee investigating the events of January 6 has not yet made a decision about Donald Trump. But the Twitter employee believes Trump has openly started a “political storm” by mobilizing his followers.
