In a news we shared with you recently, we mentioned that several artists in the USA came together and sued artificial intelligence technologies that make texts visual. The artists claimed that the works used in the training of artificial intelligences were copyrighted.

A similar development took place today. This time, Getty Images, one of the world’s most popular stock photography platforms, filed a lawsuit against the artificial intelligence company Stability AI. Getty Images also states that, just like the cases we talked about yesterday, artificial intelligence illegally uses images of itself.

Getty Images comes out harsh, while Stability AI chooses to stay quiet!

In the statements made by Getty Images CEO Craig Peters, it is stated that Stability AI uses images that are copyrighted by Getty Images for profit. According to the CEO’s claim, millions of images in Getty Images were used in the training of artificial intelligence. Peters says this is against both UK and US law. Meanwhile; Let’s say that the case was opened in London. It is not known whether anything will be done in the USA as well.

A statement on the subject was also made by Stability AI press representative Angela Pontarolo. Stating that they do not have any information about the case, Pontarolo stated that they cannot say anything about the subject.

Getty Images’ claims may be true. Because there is evidence!

Independent research has revealed that not only Stability AI, but all developers are training artificial intelligence using images served to the internet. You can see the clearest proof of this in the photo above. On an image created with Stable Diffusion, you see that the watermark from Getty Images was also attempted to be rendered, but failed.

Artificial intelligence technologies were on the agenda years ago with discussions such as “it will make people lose their jobs”. Today, we see that there are discussions about copyright. We will have to wait to see what will happen in the coming periods…
