It is known that many people buy iPhones because they believe it is a sign of wealth, but the new report from FT explains why Gen Z buyers are not interested in Android devices.

According to the report, young consumers think they will be socially excluded if they don’t have an iPhone. Generation Z has become an important part of the Apple customer base. Customers in this group buy not only iPhones but also other Apple products, including the Apple Watch. At least 34% of iPhone users in the US are in this age group. Only 10% of Samsung phone buyers are Generation Z users.

This is a big win for Apple. According to research by Canalys, Apple sells 26 iPads, 17 Apple Watches and 35 AirPods for every 100 iPhones it sells worldwide. For Samsung, every 100 smartphone sales results in less than 11 tablets, 6 smartwatches, 6 wireless earphones sold. This is the result, even though the average selling price of an iPhone is almost three times that of an Android device.

Canalys research shows that 83% of Apple users under the age of 25 in Western Europe plan to continue using an iPhone. As Generation Z gets older, this trend will likely grow and Apple will further consolidate its market share.
