Google, which has included Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors for many years in its Pixel family, has begun to design its own processors to achieve higher performance in hardware and software harmony. The first example of this effort, Google Tensor, was used for the first time on Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices. The Tensor processor, which was also used in the Pixel 6a later on, lagged behind its competitors in terms of performance, but was highly appreciated in the price-performance ratio. Google is now preparing to introduce the Pixel 7 family with the new Tensor processor.

An important step is taken in energy efficiency

Google’s Tensor processor was severely criticized, especially in energy efficiency and heat generation. The new generation Tensor page, which appeared in Geekbench, states that the processor may come with important innovations. The Geekbench score, which reveals the Tensor G2 processor, belongs to the Google Pixel 7 Pro. The device scores 1068 points in the single-core test and 3149 points in the multi-core test. Seeing a 10% increase in its multi-core score, the processor will offer performance at the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 level.

The processor, which will come with 2 Cortex-X1, 2 Cortex-A76 and 4 Cortex-A55 cores, will be produced in the 4nm fabrication process. Although the processor has the same core array, being manufactured in 4nm fabrication will greatly reduce energy efficiency and heat problems. On the graphics side, the Tensor G2 will use the Mali-G710 unit. The graphics unit, which will provide approximately 20% performance increase and 20% energy efficiency increase compared to the previous generation, will make the players very happy. We hope the new Tensor processor produced by Samsung will be a successful product produced in Samsung’s 4nm fabrication process.
