Gaziantep University (GAÜN) Faculty of Theology academicians came together in metaverse and held an introductory meeting.
GAÜN academicians Assoc. Dr. Adnan Algul, Assoc. Dr. Erol Erkan, Assoc. Dr. Ibrahim Salkini, Dr. Fehmi Sogukoglu, Dr. Dilara Tınas, Inst. See. Dr. Mustafa Aksoy and Research Assistant Said Sami held an introductory meeting on the metaverse with the team of Global Meta Work (GMW), which operates in the metaverse field.
Talking about the importance of the work in the Metaverse ecosystem, GMW company manager Dr. Metin Cengel said;
“In order to guide students and citizens in the metaverse field correctly, the academic community should know the metaverse universe closely, and in this way, academicians should inform students correctly and make use of this technology.”
Also at the meeting, one of the company managers, Hüseyin Bayer, gave information about metaverse technologies such as crypto money, NFT and Web 3.0. GMW officials answered the questions of Gaziantep University Faculty of Theology academics, who had experienced the metaverse for the first time, and made a trip to the metaverse with them.
The Contribution of Metaverse to Education was Discussed
Noting the contribution that metaverse technology can make to education, Deputy Dean of Faculty of Theology Assoc. Dr. Adnan Algül said that this technology can also be used in religious education when used correctly and appropriately.
Assoc. Dr. Erol Erkan, on the other hand, emphasized that both time and accurate information and awareness are needed in order for this technology to be utilized and for the metaverse universe to be accepted by different segments of society.
