Gas station and convenience store company On The Run (OTR) has launched crypto payment services at 175 gas stations across Australia.

OTR offers crypto payment opportunity to its customers in cooperation with cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com and payment systems provider DataMesh. Crypto.com provides its Pay Merchant service as a payment settlement layer, while Datamesh has partnered with point-of-sale terminals.

On The Run Will Expand Crypto Services

OTR has prepared the infrastructure of 175 gas stations and made them ready for crypto payment services. Ready for much more growth, the system was installed in just 8 weeks.

In addition to 175 stores, OTR’s parent company Peregrine Corp plans to expand its crypto payment service to 250 more retail firms across the country, including Subway, Oporto, and Krispy Kreme.

Stating that Crypto.com charges zero fees for transactions in this scope, Crypto.com’s Asia and Pacific general manager Karl Mohan shared his views on the system as follows:

“Whether you own a cafe or run thousands of stores, any firm can do it plug and play. Of course, Bitcoin and Ethereum are already at the top of the list because of their market cap. But many consumers are ready to start paying with Australian stablecoins.”
