Gaming monitors also suffered from the economy: Sales fell!
Economic uncertainty, falling demand, rising inflation and interest rates after the pandemic naturally caused changes in consumer behavior. These changes have had greater impacts on discretionary spending, such as technological products. Gaming monitors are among the technological products where consumer demand has fallen. Gaming monitor sales have dropped over the past year, but the future may be brighter.

2022 hit gamer monitors too

According to the TrendForce report, player monitor shipments fell 19 percent to 19.8 million units in 2022, compared to 22.8 million in 2021. This decrease marks the first drop in the gaming monitor market since 2016. However, the year 2023 may be dressing player monitors. The report predicts sales will rise 5 percent to 20.8 million this year.
The first factor that will trigger this increase seems to be higher refresh rates. The change is expected to start at the entry level first. It is stated that those who currently use 75 Hz monitors will switch to a minimum of 100 Hz models. In 2023, 100 Hz monitor sales are expected to increase by almost 5 percent compared to the previous year and reach 9 percent.
In addition, 165-180 Hz monitors, which make up 51.9 percent of shipments in 2022, and 120-160 Hz monitors, which make up 32.5 percent, are expected to have sales volumes of 58 percent and 21 percent, respectively, this year. It is said that there will be a slight increase in demand for monitors with a refresh rate of 200 Hz and above. The second positive element for gaming monitors in 2023 could be the recovery of the Chinese market. As COVID restrictions are lifted, demand in China will increase with the impact of esports. Although 2023 is seen as a year of recovery, it is thought that it will take until 2024 for the reversal of the needle in the general monitor market.
