Relationships between Microsoft and Valve have been improving lately. Increasing the number of game studios at its disposal, Microsoft normally publishes PC games through the Microsoft Store, but we have seen that the games are also released on Steam as a result of some exceptions. Bethesda, also owned by Microsoft, announced that its client would be disabled and transfer user data to Steam. These developments showed that the intimacy between Steam and Xbox had improved.

Valve head Gaben Newell clearly answered the question about whether Game Pass will come to Steam when talking about subscription-based game libraries.

Gaben wants to see Game Pass on Steam

Gaben Newell talked about subscription-based game libraries in an interview he attended. According to Newell’s statement, Steam does not plan to bring such a system in the near future. But they say they’d be happy to see Game Pass on Steam. So instead of developing a service like Steam Pass, they are open to cooperating with Microsoft for Game Pass.

A system similar to Game Pass has already been on Steam for quite some time. By purchasing the EA Play service, which is also active in our country, you can access most EA games with a single monthly subscription. There is a special page for this subscription on Steam. In addition, when you purchase the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate package, you can have the games in the EA Play library at no additional cost.

Microsoft Store is available on every computer using Windows 10 and Windows 11. So every PC gamer can already access Game Pass without much difficulty. However, Steam has been expressing confidence for its users for years. There is a strong community infrastructure and people prefer not to go out on platforms other than Steam as they add friends to each other on Steam.

It is highly possible that we will see Game Pass coming to Steam in the future. For this to happen, Microsoft must also approve. We cannot help but say that the partnership between Steam and Game Pass will be an important development for PC players.
