Adapted by HBO from George RR Martin’s epic fantasy books, Game of Thrones was broadcast between 2011-2019 and had its name written in television history with golden letters, even though the last season was unpopular. Last year, House of the Dragon, which tells about 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, debuted. This series, which was approved for the second season, also managed to collect great acclaim.
Now it turns out that the sleeves are rolled up for a brand new series set in the same universe. According to a report by Variety based on sources close to the subject, HBO wants to produce a series focusing on I. Aegon Targaryen, whose name we often hear.
The series, which may come with a movie, will tell the story of Aegon Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros 300 years before Game of Thrones
Variety says the series is currently in its very early stages and has not been agreed with any writers. However, sources state that HBO is very enthusiastic about the project, adding that we may also see a movie. Allegedly, this movie will come out before the series and will connect the events to the series.
Of course, it’s worth saying that these are just claims for now, and we don’t know if the plans will change or not. Let’s add that there is no statement from HBO on the subject.
If the allegations turn out to be true, the production will take place in “I. It will focus on Aegon Targaryen. This character, along with his brothers (also his wives) Rheanys and Visenya, and his three dragons, conquered and ruled six of the seven kingdoms in Westeros (except Dorne). Thus, he became the first person to sit on the Iron Throne and the founder of the Targaryen Dynasty. All these events took place 300 years before Game of Thrones.
Let’s not go without adding that many Game of Thrones projects are currently under development. Jon Snow series, “10,000 Ships” set 1,000 years before GoT and focusing on Princess Nymeria, the founder of Dorne, and Tales of Dunk and Egg, set 90 years before GoT, are some of them.
