Samsung is preparing to make significant changes on Galaxy Z Fold 7 with the aim of making the foldable phone series thinner and stylish. According to leaked information, some restrictions can be reached with S Pen support for the sake of this subtlety.
In the Galaxy Z Fold series, the S Pen support, which was first presented with Z Fold 3, was never as advanced as in the Galaxy S Ultra series. Due to the physical limitations of foldable design, it was waived by some functions such as Bluetooth. However, it is said that these limitations can be further increased in the new model.
Samsung’s main goal is to launch the finest Fold model so far. Z Fold 7 is said to be more thinner than the Z Fold 6 Special Edition, which is only 10.6 mm thick. However, this delicacy requires some compromises on the interior. It seems that the characteristics of S Pen will be affected by this change. It is not yet clear which functions will be removed.
Previously, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which uses a Bluetooth -free S Pen, has shown that it could change its pencil features depending on the design of its devices. This suggests that it is inevitable to restrict the features of S Pen to adapt to the form factor of foldable phones.
For now, all this is only in the rumor and a formal statement from Samsung has not come. However, considering that the company is in pursuit of constant innovation in the foldable phone market, it is certain that a thinner Fold model will not be a surprise. The real question is whether or not to compromise the experience of S Pen for the sake of this subtlety. The answer is that we will only be able to learn with official announcements.
