Galaxy Z Fold 5, one of Samsung’s flagship models, which introduced foldable smartphones into our lives, although we were strange at first, will be released in the first half of this year.
Until then, new details of the phone continue to come. Previously, it was revealed how the screen of the phone will be. Now it has been learned that Samsung is testing a new hinge design for the phone.
New ‘waterdrop’ hinge design for Galaxy Z Fold 5 being tested
The new hinge, called “waterdrop”, flexes the screen inward when the phone is closed, rather than folding it in a narrow radius. This design is said to offer many advantages, including a less noticeable crease on the screen and no gaps when the phone is folded.
One of the most important advantages of this new hinge design is that it allows the Galaxy Z Fold 5 to be thinner than its predecessor. According to the report, it is claimed that the thickness of the phone will be 14 mm or less, compared to the maximum thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which is 15.8 mm.
Samsung’s new hinge design is currently in the final testing phase and the company is expected to complete the phone once testing is complete. The company will test the reliability of the new hinge and display panel by folding the phone between 200,000 and 300,000 times during the final test phase.
