Galaxy Watch 5 models have a temperature sensor, but Samsung will make it more useful in Galaxy Watch 6 models. Using the new skin temperature API, Galaxy Watch 6 will come with a temperature control application (thermo check).

No physical contact will be required

Samsung says that with the Galaxy Watch’s new temperature app, users will be able to measure the temperature of things around them. For example; users will be able to measure the temperature of the water and the temperature of the food when they enter the sea or pool. Since the infrared sensor is used, no physical contact is required for the measurement.

It will also come to Galaxy Watch 5 models

Samsung uses the temperature sensor in its watches only for cycle tracking and other data. The Thermo Check app will first be in the new Galaxy Watch 6 series, which will be introduced on July 26, then will be available for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro.
