A study published by Counterpoint Research revealed the varying market shares of Samsung and Apple, the two biggest competitors in the smartwatch industry. According to the research comparing the market shares in 2021 and 2022, Samsung increased its market share while Apple decreased it.

Between the second quarter of 2021 and the second quarter of 2022, Samsung increased its share of global smartwatch shipments from 7.4% to 9.2%. On the other hand, Apple fell from 30.6% to 29.3% in the same period.
Huawei, which held the second place in smartwatch shipments only a year ago, has dropped to third place this year. However, the brand continued to dominate the Chinese smartwatch market for the third consecutive quarter. The market share of Amazfit and Xiaomi decreased compared to last year.
