On the cryptocurrency exchange FTX side, millions of dollars of asset outflows began as a result of an anonymous hacking attack.
The US-based cryptocurrency exchange FTX officially announced its bankruptcy the other day. FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried announced his resignation due to the processes. FTX, which has filed for bankruptcy to the Chapter 11 party, reported that it will spend overtime for the grievances of its users. However, the waters do not settle in the cryptocurrency market, which was shaken by the FTX collapse. Finally, it came to the fore that the FTX exchange was hacked and millions of dollars of assets were dumped.
FTX Telegram Manager Announces Hack Attack
Telegram administrators of the FTX exchange announced that there was an abnormal activity on the exchange and this could be a hack attack. Upon examination of the network records, it was observed that $ 400 million was withdrawn from the FTX exchange to a wallet. The Telegram manager stated that this was a hack attack and all funds may have been gone. In addition, the administrator warned users to stay away from the exchange.
On the other hand, FTX general counsel Ryne Miller stated that they are investigating the details of the transfer of more than $ 400 million. He stated that the information obtained will be shared.
Tether company also took part in the situation. Tether has blacklisted an address it thinks belongs to the hacker. At this address, it was announced that there is an asset of approximately 30 million dollars.
Assets Out of FTX Exchange
In network records shared by Lookonchain, it was observed that millions of dollars of altcoins were removed from the exchange. Lookonchain reports that the funds withdrawn from the FTX exchange are large.
Hackers cashed out Uniswap, Ethereum, 1inch, WBTC, Sushi, YFI, LDO funds. It was also revealed that the attackers still have SHIB, AAVE, SNX, MATIC, LINK, APE.
The hacker is trying to sell the assets they missed from the stock market one by one. With the funds they missed so far, they sold $189 million in ETH and DAI. There are also the following coins in the hacker’s wallet;
- 23 million MATIC ($22 million)
- 73.3 thousand BNB ($ 20 million)
- 52.9 million SRMs ($18.6 million)
- 50 million USDT ($50 million)
