The smartphone market has entered a difficult period in recent years. Has the consumption frenzy now reached its saturation point? Or do new phones no longer make you say wow? Foldable phones, which were expected to make a big splash, did not receive the attention they expected from consumers. Smartphone sales have seen their lowest figures in recent years in Europe. The smartphone market is now losing blood in Europe.

Alarm bells for the smartphone market, which has hit the bottom in Europe!

At a time when phones have become people’s limbs rather than personal assistants, smartphone sales have plummeted. This situation is astonishing at a time when consumption frenzy is increasing and people are almost dependent on technology. It is a matter of curiosity whether this situation is based on economic reasons or other underlying reasons.

Especially in Europe, people are no longer interested in new smartphones. Smartphone shipments in Europe have reached their lowest figure in recent years, according to the latest figures from market analysts Counterpoint Research. The smartphone market in Western Europe is experiencing the strongest decline at 14 percent. In Eastern Europe, which includes Ukraine, which is still at war, there was an 8 percent decline.

The situation is different in Russia, which is the other side of the war. Smartphone sales grew by 4 percent annually in Russia. Unfortunately, this situation is not due to the purchasing power of citizens. Because, although the Russia-Ukraine War undermined the Eastern European market, it paved the way for Russia. In addition, the withdrawal of major players such as Apple and Samsung from the market contributed to the growth of other brands in the Russian market.

According to analysts, Xiaomi is the smartphone market leader in Russia. Realme ranks second. This new Chinese manufacturer grew 12% year-on-year and took 55% of the brand’s shipments in the region.

Counterpoint thinks that Realme took Apple and Samsung’s withdrawal from Russia as an opportunity. In addition, Realme managed to narrow the gap with Xiaomi, which maintains its leadership in the Russian market. HONOR, on the other hand, grew by 9% on an annual basis.
