READING NOW Free VPN for Android from Google!

Google introduced the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in October. When we came to November, it released a small patch for some bugs in new phone models. Now, Google has shared with us a much larger patch for the new Pixel models.

Google will offer free VPN service on Pixel phones

The new update, called Android 13 Quarterly Platform Release 1 (QPR1), is a very comprehensive patch with many bug fixes, security patches and a few new features. The most striking feature in the new patch was the free VPN service.

With the new update, Google One VPN is now available on Pixel 7 and 7 Pro at no additional cost. This service, which the company previously offered to Google One subscribers, will now be available to Pixel 7 and 7 Pro owners as well. In this way, users will be able to browse the Internet more conveniently.

In addition, the ‘Clear Calling’ feature, which was announced before the Pixel 7 was introduced, is among the innovations that the phones gained with the patch. Clear Calling harnesses the power of Google’s proprietary Tensor chip. Using machine learning, the feature filters out background noise and controls sounds so phone calls can be heard better.

Google’s Pixel phones will now also have access to a recording app that saves audio and transcriptions to the cloud. In this update, Google added the voice recorder’s ability to identify different speakers and tag them in transcription. Tagging will only be available in Recorder on Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 7 and 7 Pro as this feature requires a Tensor chip to use it.

The QPR1 update is about 500 MB in size. As such, the update may take some time, but the phones will always be available except for the time it takes to reboot once the process is complete. To check for the update, you can browse through Settings > System > System Update.

With the new update, Google has brought the free VPN feature to its new phones. So what do you think about the free VPN service offered on Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro models? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
