iPhone has strict rules about internal storage. Although the latest models offer quite large storage opportunities, such as 1 TB, the price of these variants is pocketable. However, you can free up space on your phone thanks to a feature that has been on iOS for years.
What is ‘Remove Unused’ for iPhone and how does it work?
Apple basically offers its users two options on the storage side; You should either choose a model with high internal storage or upgrade your iCloud storage for a fee. But with the Remove Unused feature offered with iOS 11, you can breathe life into your phone.
As the name suggests, you can automatically remove unnecessary applications, photos, videos or files from your phone with the Remove Unused feature. Detecting applications that you have not used recently, iOS can remove these software that take up too much space.
This feature, which is active on all Apple devices with iOS 11 and above, is actually unknown to many iPhone users. Of course, you can store your files in iCloud by purchasing extra storage space, but you should not ignore this feature offered by Apple.
To access the Remove Unused feature, you must go to Settings > General > (iPhone, iPad) Storage. You should see the “Remove Unused” option in the middle of the screen that appears.
Within the scope of this feature, you can either delete applications or free up the storage space stored by the application. That is, the application is not deleted, but the storage used by the application can be cleared.
In addition to this feature, you can also activate the “Delete Old Correspondence” option on the same screen. With this feature, you can remove WhatsApp, iMessage or Facebook Messenger conversations that are more than a year old.
