Foxconn accepted responsibility
Officials intervened with tear gas against the demonstrators. Ignoring the metal barriers placed around the factory to enforce quarantine rules, the protesters said these conditions were causing difficulties and disruptions.
Employees in remote villages and towns are currently trying to walk home by road. Subcontractor Foxconn, which is responsible for the management of this factory, which employs approximately 300,000 people, offered more salaries and more bonuses to the workers, but these promises have not yet been fulfilled.
“Bounties planned to be paid to hired workers were miscalculated due to a technical error. Employees’ concerns will be addressed. Their reasonable requests will be honored. We apologize for the input error in the computer system. Payments will be made in accordance with agreements and recruitment announcements.”
