Published by Square Enix and developed by Luminous Productions, Forspoken will be the first PC game to support Microsoft’s DirectStorage technology. Today, both companies announced that the game, which is expected to be released next March, has been postponed to January 2023, without giving any reason.

Game development process completed

As it is known, Microsoft, which announced that it will bring DirectStorage support, one of the most important developments of the new generation consoles, to Windows in the past months, aims to reduce the CPU load by up to 40 percent with the high data transfer speeds of NVMe drives. In addition, the new technology, which will minimize the waiting times in games, will need an SSD solution with a minimum transfer speed of 2.5 GB / s.

According to the statements, the new postponement decision was taken as a result of the negotiations with the partners. Square Enix and Luminous Productions say that all of Forspoken’s game content has been completed and is now in the final stages. With the forspoken delay, it’s unclear whether we’ll see this technology in action anytime soon. Because until now, no other PC game has been confirmed to support the new technology.
