As you know, the name of Facebook, one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, has been involved in many scandals so far. The company, which faced allegations such as leaking information from within the platform and causing racism and misinformation because it could not adequately control the platform, came to the fore this time with the statements of former manager Frances Haugen.
Stating that he has worked on many social media platforms throughout his career, Haugen said that he has never encountered a company that pushes its limits like Facebook, and that the priority of the company is not to provide security, but to make profit, and that Facebook causes ethnic violence.
“Facebook is toxic to teenagers”
Faced with many dangers since he started talking about Facebook, Haugen initially asked for anonymity and requested protection, then agreed to participate in the 30 Minutes program on the CBS channel.
Stating that Facebook makes money from content consumption, Haugen stated that the company’s claims that it corrupts the body image of young girls are true, and that no effort is made to prevent such content on the platform. The former Facebook director, who will testify at congress next week, said the platform is “toxic” for young people.
Sharing some reports about Facebook with the Wall Street Journal, Haugen stated that the company also applies positive discrimination against some politicians such as Donald Trump, and the content about these people is highlighted on the platform.
