On the Sway podcast, Disney’s former CEO Bob Iger, who was the guest of New York Times journalist Kara Swisher, said that he thinks there will be a big boom in the NFT field, and compared NFTs to baseball cards he collected as a kid.
Iger pointed out that Disney has already entered the NFT space, noting that the company’s IPs are licensed in NFTs. Disney had partnered with digital collectibles platform VeVe to launch NFTs featuring popular Disney and Marvel characters.
Iger said that when you consider the characters Disney has and all the other NFT possibilities, they are phenomenal.
Disney and the Metaverse
Iger argued that there may be toxic types of behavior in the compelling and immersive environment of the metaverse, and said that Disney should consider such behavior in the metaverse universe.
Iger spoke about the subject as follows;
Despite his concerns about the risks posed by the Metaverse, Iger is optimistic and thinks that the next generation Internet will be more engaging, more immersive and more dimensional in terms of experience.
We already announced yesterday that Disney is looking for an NFT expert.
