Shock to Apple engineer

In the case that goes back to 2018, an engineer named Weibao Wang is accused of leaking trade secrets related to autonomous driving to China. Wang, who worked at Apple between 2016 and 2018, took part in the autonomous driving section, which no one knew yet, and gained access to an important database that only 2 percent of employees can access.

Wang, who also took a job in the US office of a company that developed autonomous driving technologies for China at the same time, began to leak Apple’s important autonomous technologies to this company. It is stated that a lot of sensitive information, up to the source codes, was transferred to this company.

When the accusations started, Wang’s home was immediately raided and many secret files were found. However, Wang also fled from the USA to China at this time. The Justice Department sentenced Wang to 10 years in prison on 6 counts, but will serve that sentence if Wang is extradited. It is not known which companies the Chinese company transferred these stolen technologies to in their country.
