Our technology has been developing rapidly in recent years. New research shows that we may soon be entering a new era of technology innovation, with even more advancements thanks to mind-bogglingly affordable plastic processors.
Yes, you read right: Plastic processors… University of Illinois researchers announced that they have succeeded in designing 4-bit and 8-bit processors made of plastic. Having achieved an 80 percent success rate in processor designs, the researchers plan to put these processors into mass production soon.
Team leader and University of Illinois professor Rakesh Kumar says that the 80 percent success achieved is very suitable for these processors, while suggesting that such processors can take place especially in flexible electronic circuits.
While this development is certainly exciting, it should of course be taken into account that these processors will not be available in a short time. While it still needs to be worked on, we will be able to see such processors first in experimentally prepared products.
