In the early days of the internet it was rare to see a domain name other than .com. But now there are even unusual domain name options for people to choose from. Recently, Google Registry released eight new top-level domains (TLDs) that people can purchase for their websites.
These top-level domains appeal to a variety of users, such as dads, techs, developers, or people studying at universities. For example, domain names with the .dad extension attract attention, as Google says, can be used by someone who wants to express their gratitude to the father figures in their life, a father who wants to start a blog or make dad jokes on a public platform.
Google notes that the list of new top-level domains also includes .prof, .phd, and .esq for users who want to share legal advice or teach a course. It also lists domains like .mov, .zip, .foo, and .nexus for folks in the tech community. Of course, this isn’t the first time Google is issuing unusual TLDs. Last year, before the holiday period, the .rsvp domain name was offered.
Google says these new TLDs are available under the early access program for an additional one-time fee. It was also stated in the statement that the prices of these domain names, which are currently over $ 10,000, will decrease daily until May 10, when they will become publicly available at the annual base price through various registrars.
