American automaker Ford introduced the Mustang Mach-E, a fully electric version of its legendary model Ford Mustang, in recent years. The car attracted a lot of attention with its design and technical details. However, classic lovers did not like this performance-oriented and all-electric car.

The Mustang is considered one of the most iconic models in the automobile world. Approximately 10 million cars have been produced to date, with different and special models. One of these models is the Mustang Mach 1 Twister, which was introduced in 1970 and only 96 units were produced. Ford has unveiled a fully electric and completely redesigned version of this special car in China.

Mustang Mach 1 Twister has an interesting history

We can say that the 60s and 70s were years full of ostentation and extremism for the USA. Ford produced the Mustang, the car that stood out with its show and performance in those years. The Mustang Mach 1 Twister, which was produced in these years, also has a very interesting story.

Larry LoPatin was a real estate agent who ordered custom-designed Mustang Mach 1 and Convertibles from Ford. All deals were made and more than 100 Mustangs were ordered. But soon after production began, Ford officials learned that LoPatin’s company was facing bankruptcy and all orders had been cancelled. However, 96 Mustangs had already been produced.

Ford immediately turned this to his advantage and sent all orders to the Kansas City Regional Sales Office. The name of the car was also changed to Twister Special. All 96 Mustangs were painted Grabber Orange, with a black stripe on the sides and on the hood. 48 of the vehicles produced had a power of 335 HP and the other 48 had a power of 300 HP. Now Ford pays homage to this legendary car.

Here comes the all-new Twister Special

Along with its Grabber Yellow paint and matte black stripes, the new Twister Special not only represents its ancestors, it also outperforms them. The new all-electric and SUV vehicle was unveiled at the Chengdu Auto Show in China.

A new model of the Mustang Mach-E, the electric vehicle has black “Twister Special” lettering on the side panels. There are also black Mustang and Mach-E logos on the rear. The car has a more powerful engine than its predecessor. Twister Special with 480 HP and 813 Nm torque is expected to be available only in China for now. No explanation was given about the price.
