Ford is recalling 200,000 vintage cars due to potentially detached brake pedal bumpers, according to NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) documents dated last week. According to the documents, this malfunction can cause cars to constantly flash the brake light and distract other drivers on the highway.
Ford will recall certain Fusion, Lincoln MKZ sedan and Mustang models produced between 2014 and 2015. This recall will affect 199,085 cars. It is also said that this malfunction may cause vehicles with automatic transmission to leave the parking position without pressing the brake pedal. This can increase the risk of injury.
Models with brake pedal pads that can corrode due to exposure to high temperatures and humidity have all been found to be sold in South America or Hawaii. Owners of the vehicles are expected to receive the recall notice by March 3. After the recall, vehicle owners will be able to replace their cars’ brake pedal pads and clutch pedal pads free of charge from Ford dealers.
