Qualcomm introduced its new flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile processor. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the first chipset to adopt the new naming convention that Qualcomm introduced earlier this month, is the first of its “simplified” naming scheme, while this new processor represents Qualcomm’s next generation focused on advanced AI processing and high 5G speeds.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 features 3GHz ARM Cortex X2 high-performance cores that claim to deliver up to 40 percent higher performance than its predecessor. In addition, the fact that it is the result of the 4nm fabrication process leads to higher efficiency compared to Snapdragon 888.
However, Qualcomm prefers to focus more on artificial intelligence capabilities and performance beyond speed in this processor. Featuring the 7th generation Qualcomm AI engine, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 provides 1.4 times higher AI performance. This will be especially useful in applications that need photography, voice assistant, environmental applications and other artificial intelligence.
The new processor can record 8K HDR video, provide wireless internet performance up to 3.6 GHz over Wi-Fi 6 and 6E, includes 10 Gigabit 5G Snapdragon X65 5G modem and also hosts the Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 mobile connection system.
In addition, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which can provide 30 percent higher performance with Adreno GPU graphics processor for mobile gamers, comes with Unreal Engine 5 support for a smooth gaming experience and Audiokinetic technology to provide console quality sound.
In addition to all this, it is also important that it is the first mobile platform to support the high-level security system Android Ready SE, which paves the way for the use of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in digital car keys, mobile driver’s licenses and other aspects of life.
We will soon be able to see the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor on devices from Honor, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Redmi, Sony, Vivo, Xiaomi and more.
