NASA is back on stage for the Artemis I mission, which failed in September. The Artemis I flight, which has an important place for the lunar mission, finally took place.

Artemis I flight for New Moon mission successful

The Orion spacecraft on the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center in Florida has completed the first step of its Moon mission. Orion, which was sent into space with the 97-meter-high SLS rocket, undertakes the Artemis missions, which will consist of 3 stages.

Authorities stressed that the Artemis I mission was uncrewed as it was for reconnaissance purposes. If the test mission is successful, NASA will send astronauts to the same flight path for the Artemis II mission. Then, possibly in 2025, Artemis III will attempt to place the first woman and the first colored man on the lunar surface on the first manned moon landing in fifty years.

It is speculated that NASA wants to use Artemis missions to build a Moon base for long-duration crewed missions. However, it is worth remembering that the Artemis I mission plays an important role for the first astronaut mission to Mars in the late 2030s.

Wendy Williams, vice president of propulsion systems at Northrop Grumman, who collaborates with NASA, said: “Continuous product improvements are helping NASA achieve its long-term mission of using SLS for the Artemis program. Early learning opportunity in next-generation systems will allow the SLS rocket to meet larger payload demands by 2031. This will help us produce an advanced booster.”
