First information came from Apple M3 Ultra
Mark Gurman, who is known for his closeness to Apple today, touched on some important details of the M3 Ultra, such as the number of cores, in the latest issue of the Power On bulletin. Accordingly, he reports that the new processor will offer a large increase in CPU cores. Here are the reported specs of the M3 Ultra, according to Gurman:
- Key M3 Ultra features: 32-core CPU, 64-core GPU with 24 performance cores and eight efficiency cores
- High-end M3 Ultra features: 24 performance cores and eight efficiency cores, 32-core CPU, 80-core GPU
- Base M2 Ultra configuration: 24-core CPU, 60-core GPU with 16 performance cores and eight efficiency cores
- High-end M2 Ultra features: 24-core CPU with 16 performance cores and eight efficiency cores, 76-core GPU
When we look at the list shared by Gurman, we see that the number of cores in M3 Ultra will reach up to 32, including 24P+8E. These numbers represent a 50 percent increase over the current M2 Ultra. However, it should be noted that there is no big difference in GPU cores. The base M3 Ultra will feature a 64-core GPU, while the higher-end will have an 80-core GPU.
What we know about the M3 Ultra is limited to these for now. However, current reports point to October for the new MacBook Air 13-inch with M3 processor, MacBook Pro 13-inch with Touch Bar and new iMac 24-inch. MacBook Pro 14-inch / 16-inch with M3 Pro and M3 Max processors, Mac Pro and Mac Studio with M3 Ultra will appear in 2024.
