Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could come from two different manufacturers
For those who don’t know, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to power flagship devices in 2024 with its 3nm node. In addition, the new chipset will be Qualcomm’s first processor based on cores produced by Nuvia. Now, sources close to the industry say that Qualcomm will rely on two different manufacturers for production.
Reportedly, Qualcomm will turn to TSMC and Samsung in the production of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This may be due to past experiences with Samsung. However, the report from Taiwan states that Samsung-made chips will only be used in Galaxy-branded phones, while chips produced by TSMC will be offered to other customers of Qualcomm.
As you may recall, Qualcomm faced various efficiency problems with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset produced by Samsung last year. However, these problems are now resolved. Also, considering that Samsung prefers the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy chipset in the Galaxy S23 series, it should be noted that the new decision is not surprising. As a matter of fact, a new deal may have been made for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 For Galaxy.
