First information about Pixel 9 processor Google Tensor G4 has arrived

While Google is preparing to introduce the Pixel 8 series, the first information about the Tensor G4 processor has arrived. Google Tensor G4 won’t offer major improvements over the Pixel 8’s Tensor G3 processor. Here is all that is known about Pixel 9’s processor:

Google Tensor G4 processor known features

The Google Tensor G4 processor will include the newly announced Cortex-X4, Cortex-A720 and Cortex-A520 CPU cores. The number of cores is not yet clear. The processor will go through the same production process (Samsung 4LPP+) as the Exynos 2400. So it will be a 4nm processor.

It is said that the Pixel 8 processor will consist of 1 Cortex-X3 core, 4 Cortex-A715 cores, and 4 small Cortex-A510 cores. The Pixel 9 series and Tensor G4 will likely launch after Arm’s latest CPU cores are released. It is also interesting that Google is using the second generation Samsung 4nm design for the 2024 Tensor processor. It is estimated that the Tensor G3 is produced by Samsung with the 4nm process, but it is not clear whether the first generation design or the second generation design was used.

The Tensor G4 is said to use the Immortalis-G715 GPU launched by Arm in June 2022. ARM claims that this new GPU provides 15% better performance in applications. Another important feature that stands out is hardware acceleration for ray tracing.

When will Google Pixel 8 be released?

Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, powered by the Tensor G3 processor, will be introduced on October 4. At the same event, the new color of Pixel Buds Pro will be introduced along with Pixel Watch 2.
