Apple was expected to introduce the new Mac mini at the event in March. Contrary to expectations, the company introduced the Mac Studio device at the event it held recently. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman announced that the company continues to work on the Apple Mac Mini model with the M2 processor.
Apple, along with the Mac Studio model, also presented the M1 Ultra processor to users. Produced with 5nm technology, the processor has 20 cores and 64 graphics cores. The processor, which comes with 128 GB of RAM support, has 114 billion transistors.
Mac mini with M2 processor, to be introduced this year
Apple has broken new ground with the ARM-based M1 family it uses in laptops and mini computers. The company, which left its competitors behind in terms of performance and power consumption, rolled up its sleeves for the new processor series.
It is stated that the company will appear in front of users with the M2 and M2 Pro models, as in the M1 series. It is among the leaked information that the Mac mini model will be released with M2 and M2 Pro processors.
Apple will use 8 cores in the M2 processor, as in the M1 model. However, the new processor will make improvements in speed and efficiency. The M1 Pro was introduced with 10 cores and 16 graphics cores. The M2 Pro model is expected to have 12 cores. Although it has not been finalized yet, it is stated that there will be a core increase on the graphic interface side.
It was leaked that Apple is working on the M1 Pro and Mac mini with M1 Max processors. After the company’s Mac Studio move, the future of the new Mac mini models with the M2 family has become certain. The new model will be introduced with a smaller case with a different design. Gurman stated that the new Mac mini models could be introduced in May or June.
