The first image of the smartwatch, which is thought to be released in 2022 by Facebook, but has not yet been confirmed, has been leaked. The photo, which is thought to belong to the company’s smart watch design, has some clues about the functions of this watch. The device in the image may never be released, but it was the first proof of the company’s project work.
The image of the smartwatch was found by software developer Steve Moser in an application (View) used to control the new smart glasses produced in collaboration with Facebook’s Ray-Ban. A Facebook spokesperson declined to comment on the photo’s release.
First look at Facebook’s smartwatch:
The first reports of the watch, which is expected to be released soon, appeared in the middle of this year, in June. According to the report, it was suggested to have two cameras on the back. However, in order to use these cameras, the strap of the watch had to be opened. According to the photo published by the Bloomberg news agency, there is a camera under the screen of the watch. With this camera placed in a small notch, you can make live broadcasts, video chats or take selfies just like on smartphones. Considering this feature, it is thought that the watch itself may have a 4G or 5G mobile internet connection or a Wi-Fi-based technical system. Smart watches produced so far do not have a camera that can see the user, so it gives an idea of how Facebook will make a difference to its competitors with the smart watch it has produced. Looking at the design of the watch, the screen with a square design with rounded edges, similar to the Apple Watch series, draws attention. It is also thought that the watch, which will have a heart rate sensor, will also be used as a fitness watch.
Recently, the giant company Facebook’s rebranding as Meta has caused quite a stir. Although the company has organizations such as Instagram, Whatsapp and Oculus, the insecurity it has created in the market recently draws attention. For this reason, the production of smart watches can be considered as Facebook’s attempt to hold on to the market by appealing to the young audience. It is also thought that Facebook’s start to produce smart watches will increase the competition between Facebook and Apple, which has come to the fore with their disagreements on iPhone operating systems and App Store policies.
