Qualcomm introduces its new processor at the end of each year, in December. Towards the middle of this year, the possibility that the 898 processor could be introduced early emerged. One of the details that strengthen this claim is the Xiaomi 12 model. Although the launch date of the flagship model is not yet known, it is likely to appear in November.
An image that appeared on the Chinese social media Weibo is important for both Xiaomi 12 and Snapdragon 898. This image shows the features of the processor in the smartphone. Although there is no Snapdragon 898 detail in the image, it contains core and GPU information.
The first phone using the Snapdragon 898 appeared on Weibo
Snapdragon 898 is quite ambitious in terms of its features. Produced by Samsung with an octa-core and 4 nm fabrication process, the processor comes with a Cortex-X2 core running at 3 GHz on the main core side. This high-performance core comes with three performance Cortex–A710 cores running at 2.5 GHz. The remaining four cores appear with the Cortex-A510 running at 1.79 GHz, which is used for energy efficiency.
Here are the details in the leaked image. At the same time, the SM8450 processor code, which appeared in June of this year, is also seen in this screenshot. Again in this screenshot, the Adreno 730 GPU detail is one of the details proving that the processor is Snapdragon 898.
In the shared image, we see that the top of the phone is closed. Actually, it is not easy to make an inference from the design details. However, it is clear that Xiaomi wants to be the first smartphone to use Snapdragon 898. In this sense, the Xiaomi 12 model will most likely come with Snapdragon 898.
Although the Snapdragon 898 has ambitious features in the flagship processor market, its geared rivals such as Dimensity 2000 and Exynos 2200 seem to push Snapdragon this year. Time will tell how processors with similar core structures on paper will stand out in performance.
