Launching its 13th generation Raptor Lake architecture processors today, Intel is preparing to make significant changes in the 16th generation Lunar Lake architecture. Although there is a long time ahead for new processors, the first details of the architecture were announced by Intel today.

Intel Lunar Lake comes with a brand new architecture

Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel’s executive vice president and customer computing division, announced that Lunar Lake will be a completely new architecture from the ground up. Also, the official said that the architecture will mainly focus on the 15W power segment and will include significant performance-per-watt improvements in the mobile space. Thus, Intel points to an all-day battery performance in mobile devices without sacrificing performance.

Although Intel says that Lunar Lake will be optimized for mobile devices, we can say that it will also make significant developments in the desktop market. Because the new architecture will appear in a scalable structure with Foveros packaging technology using 3D clusters and production nodes below 20A. With this scalable architecture, Intel will have the freedom to choose logical blocks for each silicon. A similar design is also expected to appear in the upcoming Meteor and Arrow Lake architectures.

Sources indicate that Lunar Lake will have an Intel 18A production node and an upgraded Xe2-LPG graphics architecture. Intel did not share any information about the release date of the new architecture. But he says it’ll be available at the same time as Arrow Lake, or soon after.
