First camera details shared for iPhone 16 Pro
According to Korea-based broadcasting resource The Elec, Apple will rely on LG Innotek and South Korea-based Jahwa Electronics for the periscope telephoto lens that will be featured on the iPhone 15 Ultra. If we recall, LG introduced the “Folded Zoom” periscope telephoto module, which offers lossless and continuous optical zoom, as part of the CES 2023 Fair. While this sensor is expected to accompany the iPhone 15 Ultra, LG will be responsible for 70 percent of the orders and Jahwa Electronics will be responsible for the rest.
Most of today’s smartphone cameras come with digital zoom, which reduces image quality to go beyond native focal lengths. But LG’s new design will ensure that details are preserved, similar to DLSR cameras. In addition, the Korea-based broadcast source reported that the new telephoto lens will power both high-end models of the iPhone 16 series in the future.
It looks like Apple plans to make the iPhone 15 Pro Max stand out more than the lower models this year. However, the new change may cause disappointment for users who will prefer smaller screen Pro models. Because Apple has not differentiated the camera features between iPhone “Pro” models since the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
