MediaTek continues to work to take competition to a new level in the mobile processor market. MediaTek Dimensity 9000, which is called the flagship processor and attracts attention with its features, was introduced.
Aiming to take the competition with Qualcomm and Samsung to a different dimension, MediaTek introduced its most powerful chip ever. The new model, which is quite powerful compared to previous Dimensity chips, exceeds expectations on paper.
MediaTek Dimensity 9000 features
MediaTek, which is mostly seen in middle segment devices, has been very active in the upper segment smartphone market with the Dimensity 1000 series for a while. The Dimensity 1000 series, which could not fully compete with the Snapdragon 800 series, left its place to the Dimensity 9000.
MediaTek Dimensity 9000 architecture
The new processor uses Arm’s v9 architecture. Introduced in March 2021, the Arm v9 architecture was designed specifically for AI-powered operations. Arm v9, which is more efficient and approximately 30 percent faster than the Arm v8 architecture, is one of the biggest innovations of the Dimensity 9000 processor.
Dimensity 9000, the first mobile processor produced by TSMC with 4nm technology, is also the first product with Arm’s new core design. MediaTek announced that it uses 3 different cores in the Dimensity 9000 processor.
The new processor has 1 x 3.05GHz Arm Cortex-X2 performance core, 3 x 2.85GHz Arm Cortex-A710 and 4 x 1.8GHz Arm Cortex-A510 efficiency cores. On the graphical interface side, it has 10 cores. Used Arm Mali-G710. The company states that there is a 4-fold increase in performance in the graphical interface compared to the previous generation.
The Dimensity 9000 processor supports a refresh rate of 144Hz on WQHD Plus screens and 180Hz on FullHD Plus screens. In addition, smartphone manufacturers will be able to use 7500Mbps LPDDR5x RAM in the new processor.
Coming with the 18-bit Imagiq Gen 7 ISP, the processor is the first chip capable of capturing 320 Megapixel images. Stating that the Dimensity 9000 can transfer data at 9 Gigapixels per second, the company is quite assertive about camera performance.
Dimensity 9000 has a 5G modem that supports 3GPP’s Release 16 specification. The new processor unfortunately lags behind its competitors by offering sub-6GHz 5G support.
Dimensity 9000, the first mobile processor to support Bluetooth 5.3 technology, appeared with Wi-Fi 6E. The new processor’s competitor, the Snapdragon 898, will be introduced on November 30.
