As you normally know, the last months of the year are quite busy for the players because many of the games we call AAA make their debut at that time. However, in the last two years, the first three months of the year have started to be fuller rather than the end of the year. Last year, games such as Elden Ring, Horizon Forbbiden West and Dying Light 2 made their debut in the first quarter, while this year’s highly anticipated games such as Hogwarts Legacy, Dead Space Remake and Fire Emblem Engage made their debut around February. Although such intensities are good because they are good games to play, they also cause a serious intensity in our work. That’s why sometimes we can’t allocate enough time for some games. Frankly, I was afraid that Fire Emblem Engage would be such a game for me. Actually, this is how our relationship with Fire Emblem Engage started. “Let’s see how much time I will have to play.” I started. However, since the game was more enjoyable than I expected, I spent all the opportunities I could create for Fire Emblem Engage and I am quite happy with it. If you wish, let’s start our review by moving on to topics such as which parts of the game are good and who the game appeals to.

The Fire Emblem series is one of the best turn-based strategy role-playing games that started in 1990. The new game of this series, Fire Emblem Engage, also made its debut in the past weeks. In this new game, we can say that the basics of the series have been preserved and it has been made a little newer. When we say the basics, we can actually start with the social part. In Three Houses, that is, in the previous game, social relations were a bit more prominent, but in this game, we can say that social relations are completely put into the background. Of course, this is a subject that varies according to the person, but if you do not enjoy the social relations part as much as I do, it may be good news for you. Of course, social activities continue, but it is worth noting that that side cannot approach the war system again and remains a side element. So how is the war system, what does it offer?

In my opinion, the game’s combat system is more than enough reason to play the game on its own. In other words, you are not looking for anything in the extra game because the combat system is both sedate and enjoyable and offers enough experience. Actually, there is no need to explain the battle system because I can say that it is a classic turn-based strategy game. It has a classic combat system where you have to pay attention to the weapon and location. In addition, we can say that you should pay attention to the environment and make your tactics accordingly. Of course, there are some differences brought by the story, and these are again set in a beautiful system. One of the most beautiful details is that you can fight with different equipment and different abilities more easily against an enemy who is actually stronger than you. This pushes you to be both tactical and more active all the time. Of course, the game becomes more diverse with different teammates as well as the different characters you control. In other words, the game pushes the replayability to the end, not only in terms of gameplay. One of the most important factors here is the rings, which are the main subject of the game. Your goal in the game is to find these rings, but you don’t find these rings like that. Each of these rings gives you different abilities, and these abilities actually allow you to make a serious gameplay change in your character. In this way, as I said, it means that you have to follow the game and the enemies actively.

In short, the battle system of the game has been very successful and offers a pleasant and long experience with its replayability. Don’t be shy about gameplay.

Let’s come to the story and the story presentation. After a war 1000 years ago, the Divine Dragon Alear for some unknown reason falls asleep for 1000 years and wakes up in connection with the war that took place 1000 years ago, and the game begins. Divine Dragon Alear is also our main character. As I said, our aim is to collect the rings found 1000 years ago and to eliminate the threat 1000 years ago again. I can say that the story is cliché and did not draw me in much. However, this may also be due to my dislike for manga or anime. That’s why I can’t predict how the fans will feel. In fact, this also applies to story presentation. The story presentation is the same as in most anime. That’s why I never liked the story presentation and especially the dialogues bored me. Of course, as I said, if you like anime or manga, you can take a different approach.

In general, although Fire Emblem Engage was released during this busy period, it was a game that easily outperformed its competitors and offered a better experience. Unfortunately, considering that JRPGs are not very popular in our country, it may be a game that you overlooked or that you did not pay attention to because you do not have a Switch. However, if you have a Switch, it’s a must-play game. If you do not have a Switch, I can say that it is a game that can be added to enough excuses to buy a Switch. Of course, if you like this anime style of the game or just want to focus on gameplay like me.
